Face value.. is it so important?

everyone does not want to lose face infront of everybody.. some see it as a big issue that they wll go out of the way to fight back the faces they lost.. What is so important about this face? without it, we can't survive? without it, our reputation is stained? it might be true to a certain extent.. but however, if you already had a certain reputation in other people's lives, by throwing as much face, those people out there will still believe in you..

Take for example, in your friends eyes, you are a good leader, possess qualities that everyone dream to have, logical thinker and so on.. And one day, you invite your friends over for lunch in your house.. you accidentally said or did something which really angered your parents so much so that they cursed and sweared at you infront of your friends which resulted of you doing the same back to them.. thus, you having lose face.. your friends were all stunned by your reaction.. and since then..

(1st sencerio) they began to avoid you as they see you as a disrepectful kid and not wanting to learn from you... as a result.. friends are lost..

(2nd sencerio - rare) They just treated as they see the other 'bad' side of you.. in their eyes.. you are still a good friend, a great leader...

As we can see in this practical world, once your reputation is stained.. its forever.. no matter how much you do to savage it.. people will still gossip about it.. mind it.. no matter how much reputation you had in the past.. it's history..

in other words, lose face= lose reputation= lose credibility= not able to survive
