The above picture shows a place where peace is not found, torture and cries are a everyday affair and thousands of grieved spirits lingers in the air. This is the Sercurity Prison 21 (S-21) camp (now renamed the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum).

In the past before it was used as a concentration camp, it was a high school that consisted of 5 blocks and a head office.

Read more about it here.

Picture 1

This shows 2 of the 5 blocks at the location itself. At that time, each of the 5 blocks were meant for different classes of people.. Each level at each block was also sub-divided according to gender..

Picture 2

Inmates were kept in these cubicles about the size of a regular toliet.. inside each cubicle.. there is a bucket for the prisoners to do their business and they were chained up at the ankle by a typical ring shown in Picture 4..

there are about 10 of such cubicles in a classroom.. i doubt their conditions are any better.. these cubicles holds inmates of lower authority or lower class people.. on the walls, there are encouraging messages to urge the inmates to stay strong and live on..

Picture 3

This classroom contains a metal bedframe, a bucket and chain.. it is used to hold high ranking officals.. similar to those staying in Picture 2 they were tortured everyday for information leading to whatever they were finding at that point of time..

Deaths were a everything thing and bodies are sent to the killing fields nearby by truckloads..

Victims of the S-21 camp were transported to the Killings Fields where they will be mass-buried.. This place also contains bodies of people that were brutally murdered for crimes against the government at that period..

This place contains the largest amount of bodies buried in mass graves among the several others found around the country..

This is the stupa erected for those buried in the mass graves.. Inside contains the skulls of those who died there that were exhumed when this place was discovered as shown in Picture 2..

there is about 15 levels to hold all the skulls that were found.. each level (square) is about the length of a box (where the player stands) on a badminton court..

Picture 3

This is only of the many potholes that is the burial site for many bodies in the area.. each of this hole is about the size of the free-throw area (the coloured region after the 3-point line) on a basketball court..
